Travel Info

Barcelona is served by Barcelona–El Prat Airport (BCN), which is about 12 km southwest of the city center. Transportation from the airport inlcudes bus, taxi, metro, and train.

The airport has two terminals, T1 and T2; the terminals are connected by a free shuttle bus that runs from 8:00 to 20:00 every 4 minutes, from 5:00 to 8:00 and from 20:00 to 0:00, every 7 minutes, and from 00:00 to 5:30, every 20 minutes.

Getting from the airport to the city center (near the venues)

Aerobús

The simplest way to get to the neighborhoods near the venue is to take the Aerobús (A1 from Terminal 1, A2 from Terminal 2). The Aerobús connects the airport to the city center in less than 30 minutes. The fare is €5.90 (€10.20 return, good for 15 days) and the bus runs every 5-10 minutes from early morning until late night. It stops at Plaça Universitat and Plaça Catalunya. You can buy tickets online or on the bus (no large bills).

Note: The bus back to the airport does not stop at Plaça Universitat. You catch it at Plaça Catalunya.

The T-10 ticket can NOT be used on the Aerobús.

Taxi

A taxi from the airport to the city center costs €30–€40 and takes about 20–30 minutes, depending on traffic. Taxis are metered, and there is an airport surcharge of €3.10. There may be surcharges for large suitcases, more than 4 people, or late night rides. Official taxis are yellow and black, with a green light on the roof indicating that they are available. Use the official taxi ranks outside Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

Metro (map)

Line 9 Sud (L9 Sud) runs from the airport into the city. The fare is €4.60. Take line 9 Sud from either Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 and change to either L1 (red) or L3 (green) to get to the city center and the neightborhood near the venue. The nearest stops are Universitat (L1 (red), L2 (purple)) and Catalunya (L1 (red), L3 (green)).

The T-10 ticket can NOT be used on L9 Sud.

Train

A train leaves Terminal 2 towards Barcelona every 20-30 minutes and takes 30 minutes to reach the city centre (Plaça Catalunya), near the venues. A single train ticket costs €4.20. You can also use the T-10 ticket, which allows you to then transfer to the metro (excluding L9 Sud), buses (excluding Aerobús), and trams for the price of €1.02.

Night bus

There is also a night bus, the N17, that goes to Plaça de Catalunya and runs every 20 minutes between 22:00 and 5:00.

The T-10 transit ticket

If you plan to use public transit a lot, or if you and a group of friends plan to use it a little, the T-10 ticket may save you money. The T-10 is €10.20 for Zone 1 (Barcelona, approximately) and provides 10 trips. Each trip can include transfers among all covered services, as long as the last transfer occurs within 75 minutes of the first use that trip. Multiple people can use one T-10. The T-10 can be used on these services: the metro (excluding the L9 Sud to the airport), buses (excluding Aerobús), night buses, trains (FGC an RENFE), a and few funiculaires.
